E-world Congress 2012 "E-Energy: Smart Grids made in Germany"
E-World, Europe’s leading energy and water management industry fair, took place in Essen (Germany) for the 12th time. It serves as a platform for business, networking and matchmaking activities between electricity suppliers, municipal utilities, industrial users, municipalities and service suppliers. The latest technology trends – including innovations with regards to energy efficiency, smart homes and especially smart grids - were addressed by exhibitors and organizers alike. The year’s focus topics were the distribution, trade and marketing of energy. Having gained ever increasing attention from international companies, the E-World is the perfect platform to promote Germany as an investment location.

Technology partnerships in six model regions develop and assess key technologies and business models for an "Internet of Energy." The model projects are funded with EUR 60 million in an inter-ministerial partnership with the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. The German private economy also financially supports the research and development of new ICT-based energy systems within the model projects with EUR 80 million.
